1. If you have had a problem with an earlier call, if you are anxious about being able to schedule a meeting or about the possible outcome of the call, you need to do the work to reduce your anxiety. You cannot allow your anxiety about past or future events make you lose focus.
2. If you’ve had a difficult call or an unsuccessful call, you must let go of that call and the feelings you may have about it. Don’t fall into the trap of allowing you to hold onto those negative feelings about prospecting. If you are unable to let it go, you will probably simply have more unsuccessful, difficult calls.
3. The best way to let go of your negative feelings about prospecting is to have an awareness of your negative internal dialogue. You do have control of your thoughts, and it is your choice to move forward or to hang onto the bad feelings created by your thoughts. Stay in the moment. Don’t worry about the future. Don’t hold on to the past. Focus on what is happening right now and only on what is happening right now. If you move from moment to moment in this manner, your prospecting will be much easier and far less stressful.
